Park & Accommodation

Kanha Tiger Reserve

Kanha is one of the oldest tiger reserves in the country today. It is also the largest national park in Madhya Pradesh spreading across 2,000 sq km  including the buffer area. In common with most National Parks in India, to limit the number of vehicles in any one area, the park is divided into 4 zones.

Until recently Kanha was the only forest where one could find the Barasingha (swamp deer). The species was on the brink of extinction and was bred in an enclosed area within the park. Today the population has since increased and the Barasingha today roams freely in Kanha. The species has recently been reintroduced into Satpura Tiger Reserve.

Singinawa Jungle Lodge – 07 Nov departure

As well as being a wonderful base for our visit to Kanha, Singinawa – spread over 110 acres – has just 12 guest cottages and 2 bungalows.

The 12 stone and slate cottages are some of the best available in the wildlife lodges business. Each stands in seclusion, surrounded by trees where intruders to your privacy are only the cheetals and the occasional wildlings. Beds are super king size (80 in × 98 in or 203 cm × 249 cm), as is the room, available in Single, Twin Bed and Double bed options. There are attached baths with a double vanity and running hot and cold showers. Other amenities include a fireplace, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, lounge chairs and workstations.

Singinawa can offer a vast variety of experiences, including nature walks in search of lesser fauna and the chance to photograph insects, amphibians, reptiles etc.
They also organise interactive experiences with Gond artist and Baiga tribes.

Flame of the Forest – 25 Apr departure

Flame of the Forest is an intimate lodge, designed with heart and soul. With a private courtyard that mirrors the entry to a local home, it provides the atmosphere of a life connected nature.
Each of the four cottages has a deck with a stunning view looking out over the river and the forest beyond. Depending on the season, the river is either filled with water or just a sandy riverbed inviting you for a walk.

Inside, the cottages are both cosy and spacious, with nothing but a huge window between you and the view over the river, through which you can see magnificent sunsets and moonlit views.

At the heart of Flame of the Forest lies the kitchen; making full use of vegetables from their own garden, local markets, fresh river fish and recipes from Grandmothers, mothers and sisters; you’ll be served fresh and authentic Indian food.
