Footprints in the Wild – Bandhavgarh & Kanha

India is home to about 10% of the world’s wildlife, so needless to say it is home to a huge diversity of mammals – among them the highest diversity of wildcats in the world – including the Royal Bengal Tiger.
The WWF estimates that almost 60% of the World’s iger population is to be found in India. This makes India the best destination in the world to view this majestic big cat in its natural habitat.

This itinerary is designed to give you the best chance of seeing tigers in its natural habitat and we have chosen two of India’s most renowned tiger reserves; Bandhavgarh and Kanha.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in Delhi. Group participants will be arriving from various destinations so no activities are planned for this day. Overnight in Delhi.
Note: Optional activities within the city can be organised – at additional cost – for those who arrive early.

Day 2
Transfer to the airport and catch a flight to Jabalpur. On arrival transfer by road to Bandhavgarh. Remainder of the evening is at leisure.

Day 3
Explore Bandhavgarh. We take 2 safaris today to explore Bandhavgarh. In between the safaris we return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest.

Note: All tiger reserves in India are managed by the government, they allow 2 time slots in a day for tourists to explore the park in open jeeps. There is a 4 hours safari in the morning and a 3 hour safari in the afternoon. The park is divided into 4 zones so that the tourists can be spread all over the park rather than all gathering in one location.

Day 4
Although Bandhavgarh is renowned for its excellent tiger sightings, it is also a great park for some birding, especially for raptors. Morning and afternoon jeep safaris in Bandhavgarh.

Day 5
This morning you take your last jeep safari into Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve searching for the big cats. After an early lunch transfer by road to Kanha Tiger Reserve.

Note: Parks in Madhya Pradesh remain closed on Wednesday afternoon for all tourist activities. We will use this time to transfer in between two parks.

Day 6
Begin exploring Kanha tiger reserve. Kanha is the oldest and the largest tiger reserve in Central India. 2 safaris into the park today.

Day 7
Continue exploring Kanha. The park is huge and is divided into 4 major zones, each offering a slightly different landscape be it Sal forests, grasslands, or hilly terrain covered in bamboo forest. This diversity is also the reason why the park has a bird diversity of about 300 species.

Day 8
After an early breakfast transfer by road to Jabalpur and catch your flight to Delhi from where you connect on to your international flight back home.
