According to a report produced by the WWF, the global population of tigers in the world is estimated to be around 3,890; of these, 2,200 live in India. This makes India the best destination in the world to view this majestic big cat in its natural habitat.

We have planned this program to guarantee you a sighting of the elusive tiger.
Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve today is so popular with the tourists that the park officials have divided the area open to tourists into 10 tourists zone in order to reduce the concentration of tourists in one region of the park. The park also now allows a limited number of jeeps into the park for a full day safari without being tied to zone restrictions. This short safari takes advantage of full day drives and we are confident that we can show you the Bengal Tiger in its natural habitat

Park & Accommodation

Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve

The exact origin of the Ranthambore fort is still disputed but it is generally accepted that there was a settlement at the site of the Fort, as far back as the 8th century A.D.

Since, the Ranthambhore Fort controlled the trade routes between North India and Central India, it was highly coveted by the rulers of North India. During 1300 AD, Ala-ud-din Khilji, the ruler of Delhi sent his army to capture the Fort. After three unsuccessful attempts, his army finally conquered the Ranthambhore Fort in 1301 and ended the reign of the Chauhans. In the next three centuries the Ranthambore Fort changed hands a number of times, until Akbar, the great Mughal emperor, finally took over the Fort and dissolved the State of Ranthambore in 1558. The fort stayed in the possession of the Mughal rulers till the mid 18th century.

The park today is divided into 10 zones for the tourists. Zones 1-5 are the ones that are the most sought after due to the higher probability of tiger sightings in these zones. These zones remain closed during the monsoon months whereas zones 6-10 remain open throughout the year.
